Planning your treatment
After we have all the information we need we will formulate a plan that we believe will suit your treatment needs.
We will then discuss the cost and the estimated time of treatment and when it should commence.

Sometimes best treatment may be to let nature take its course and wait until you are older.

Orthodontic treatment shouldn't start on decayed teeth. Orthodontists don't look for dental decay so it is important that you attend the dentist before starting treatment. Any decay present before orthodontic treatment would be expected to get worse more quickly with braces and bands in your mouth.

Extraction's
Some people need to have teeth removed so enough room is made in your mouth to lineup your teeth.
In general orthodontists don't take teeth out but will refer you back to the dentist.

Separators
These are tiny elastic bands that are placed between the teeth. When they are placed between the teeth they are stretched and as they return to their normal shape they tend to push the teeth apart slightly.
This makes a space between the teeth so bands may be placed more easily.

It is important to take care of the separators so they stay in place until the banding appointment. Please avoid sticky food and brush your teeth carefully, but thoroughly.

Your teeth may be a bit sore after the separators are placed. Try a normal pain reliever and this should settle down.

If your teeth are still very tender just before the banding appointment a pain reliever may be taken to make the banding appointment more comfortable.

separators
Separators generally are used next to the molar teeth, towards the back of the mouth
