What to expect
No, it doesn't matter how enthusiastically you want your teeth straightened
we are not going to do this the first time you visit us.
In order to thoroughly decide what would be best for you and your teeth we
need to look closely at your face shape, teeth, and your growth.
Some of the things we look at:
- Study models -these are plaster casts made from a mold of your mouth.
This allows you and us to look at your teeth and discuss the options without
having our hands in your mouth! They are also useful so you can remember
the changes that have taken place during treatment.
- Photographs - sometimes before treatment photographs are taken. These
also help record changes.
- Radiographs or "x-rays" may be taken to see what teeth are present.
Whether there is underlying problems with the root and bone that surrounds
the teeth. Teeth that are still in the bone can also be seen.
